Kundalini Awakening, it’s nonsense! …until….
During my teacher training in 2015 I heard about The Kundalini Awakening for the first time. This is the moment when Kundalini energy starts rising from your pelvic base upwards to the top of your head. Wow! That sounds fantastic, I thought, for sure interesting.
I want to experience that too! I thought, like almost everyone in our teachers training group. Although, there are many warnings when you google is, about premature ‘Awakenings’. And then you feel really bad and can become mentally ill. I don’t want that! I searched for yogi’s who had experienced this. Among my fellow students, questioned yogi’s at the European festival and reading more and more about it. That Awakening.. there was no one who could (or wanted to) tell me about it from their own experience. It was said that in the past in India, among yogis there was a code of silence on sharing these experiences. Well, that’s for me a far to easy way to keep myths alive. I decided, I don’t believe this, and nevertheless found the concept/illusion useful as a visualization (imagining energy flowing from my bottom to the top of my skull). It felt good and one way or another energetically nourishing.
And then one night during a trainingweek I woke up at night with a new sensation. There was a cloud in my lower abdomen, partly in me, partly outside of me, that slowly rolled upwards. Heat, vibrating cells, my analytical mind went to work like crazy…
What is this? How can I describe this? What am I really feeling? The sensory experience was stuttering, on-off, my head took over and then it stopped. It had rolled from my lower chakra to my naval chakra. Hmm, is this it? That Kundalini Awakening? I don’t know, I do think so. It was a powerful experience that made me more aware. Aware of how my devolopment, my scientific education, has contributed to my tendency to relate in a broad sense, with logic and analysis, with which I unconsciously definitely more often block sensory experiences. That thinking ability is great, it brings me a lot. And sometimes, like that night, it doesn’t. A simple switch button to turn it on and off, that is what I try to create since. And I get better step by step..
I have not experienced it again since then. I hope for a second chance. In the meantime, 7 years have passed. I will certainly experience all sorts of new sensations in the next 7 years. The motto ”The most interesting voyage is the voyage through the body” has become a important principle in my life (from the Dutch Dance Company). And I am looking forward to that!
From that moment on, experiences that I don’t recognize, weird stories people tell, somewhat mystical magical, they can count on the benefit of my doubt š Do you have doubts? Keep it up! Or move to discover..
Do you have similar experiences? Let me know, I’m very curious!
Shine your light!
